2v1 with Recovering Defender Situational Game (Wide Area)

This activity is a Small Sided Situational Game.

The objective of the game is to score in end zone (white team) and in the goal (black team).

The game is set up starting with a 2v1 until the recovering defender joins the game.

The end zone represents the space behind a back line.

The game starts with either the defender (black) passing to either attacker (white).

The objective is to dribble into the yellow end zone under control.

The attacking team needs to beat the one defender fast enough to not allow the recovering defender to make it 2v2.

The team with the most points wins.

The focus is to recreate a moment where the attacking team is looking to exploit space behind the back line.

An individual focus could be on how the ball carrier commits the defender by dribbling at them with speed and timing the pass to their teammate when the defender has committed to the dribble.

The coach should observe the positioning of players in relation to the defender and offside to exploit space behind, increasing the tempo when exploiting space to not allow the recovering defender to make it 2v2.
