6v4 Positional Game to Endzone
This activity is a Positional Game.
The objective of the game is to get past the opposition’s end line.
The game is set up as a 6v4 with two defending players in the first zone and two defending players in the second zone.
The defenders must stay in their zones.
The team in white attacks the endzone and the team in black attacks the goals.
The game starts with an attacking player passing the ball in to start the game.
The objective is to progress and dribble past the endline.
If the defending team recovers the ball they can score.
The attacking team needs to manipulate the defenders to create enough space to get past them and dribble past the endline.
The defending team must create an overload to increase the chance of recovering the ball.
The team with the most points wins.
The focus is to recreate a moment where the attacking team is getting past the midfield line and ultimately the back line.
An individual focus could be on how the ball carrier releases the ball in an appropriate time to draw a defender close to commit a defender freeing up a teammate.
Another individual focus is how the off-ball players position themselves to be able to support their teammate whether they are creating space or they are exploiting space.
